When we first encountered Livesey’s work it was its solitude and seemingly hermetic qualities which endeared us. So we are excited to present this show which plays of these works with four of Livesey Peers in Backlit’s First group show curated by an invited artist.

After initial contact and the subsequent offering of a solo show to Livesey. We spoke about how we hoped for our space to be used as a lab for ideas which the artists we supported could utilise in the absence of space and time in their own environments, we hoped the space would become a catalyst for new work and notions which where struggling to find footings , a home for the unformed or unrealised. On this basis Livesey returned to us with the idea to curate his own show in the space. For us this was as interesting and exciting as it was scary, for a young gallery which is still building its image and own identity giving over control was going to be a leap of faith but one in keeping within the whole premise of the galleries inception.. To allow freedom to artist who’s work stirred strong feelings in us and to give them the freedom to develop has always been the basis of the gallery so on that premise  we are proud to present , Five Brothers In Seven Sisters.
