Future Shorts is the largest short film network in the world. The next screening will feature works by internationally acclaimed directors such as Spike Jonze and Sam Taylor Wood at Backlit Gallery, Nottingham. Alongside the Future Shorts selection Backlit will be screening short videos showcasing local talent. If you are a filmaker looking for an audience to view your work alongside some big names in the industry – look no futher!

All submissions must include; Director CV Statement of submitted work (200 words) The video (5 -10 mins) £10 application fee – (via paypal)

Successful applications will also receive two complimentary tickets to the screening.

Renting a space

The spaces are between £60-£150 per month, all inclusive. By becoming a member of Backlit Studio, you are entitled to solo exhibitions and group shows as part of the regular Backlit Gallery programme and we are currently arranging a regular programme of group crit sessions with other local practitioner and students . You will also have a space on the Backlit website. The studio has wireless broadband, a mac computer, toilets and a kitchen. There is no minimum period, we just ask for a £5 key deposit and 2 months notice if you decide to leave.

 

Becoming a member

This entitles you to all the benefits of being a studio member but without actually renting a space. This includes being kept informed of opportunities and events through our members mailing list, crit sessions and regular meetings and social events. Volunteering

Backlit Gallery is currently looking for a new team of passionate volunteers looking to gain experience in a dynamic Art Gallery delivering an exciting programme of exhibitions and events.

What’s on offer

  • Hands-on experience in exhibition installation, venue hires, private views, event management and gallery marketing.
  • A unique opportunity to meet new people with similar interests

Essential Requirements

  • Evident knowledge of the arts.
  • An interest in exhibition management and gallery work.
  • Determination, perseverance, passion for the arts, and enthusiasm.

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Some knowledge of D.I.Y would be preferred, but not essential.

You will be contacted to say that we have received your email. You will then be invited to an interview to hear more about the Gallery and to assess whether volunteering is suitable for you.
