As a studio member of Backlit I am a practising in-house artist focusing on Abstract Surrealism that develops from the subconscious inner sanctum of one’s most deep desires and thoughts.
Just as I write my poetry and reviews, I paint quickly, utilizing the texture and movement of oil paints to create a blurred vision of colourful in site into my own personalities, which allows a open and frank debate into my own subconscious.
My art is completely self-centred, a reflection of my experiences and surroundings that is institutionalised into subconscious thought, which is then transferred as patterns into my work through the medium of thick oil paints.
I paint standing up looking down so I can move around my piece and add as my brain flows; in the garden, on the studio floor, in the living room. This allows me freedom of expression, not held by easel to structure the piece in shape or angle, I exhibit on the floor.
Due to this my work collects all amounts of fragments from everyday life, which are uninhibited by the wind or direction of their desires; flies have unfortunately perished in thick yellows and whites, grass and petals have stuck themselves to my work transforming pieces, and dust, hair and flakes of life have found there way onto pieces.
To get an idea, you must not get an idea.
