Jas Lucas is a Nottingham based artist who received her BA in Fine Art from the University of Derby in 2019. Jas produces live work in response to the personal and public ‘everyday’, questioning the daily activities and routines in which we often partake passively; highlighting the absurdities and contradictions involved. The subject matter for her most recent work is fuelled by her fascination with changing social behaviours as a result of our ever-growing reliance on smartphones, the internet and social media.
The private/public, online/offline, humour/melancholic are some of the binary oppositions Jas is exploring in her most recent and current work.
Jas is one of 7 artists that have been selected to participate in BACKLIT’s Graduate Studio Programme.
