Jas Lucas is a Nottingham based artist who received her BA in Fine Art from the University of Derby in 2019. Jas produces live work which questions the daily activities and routines within which we often partake passively and uses subtle humour and performativity to highlight the contradictions involved.
Her most recent work is driven by her fascination with the changing social behaviours inherent in our reliance on smartphones, social media and technology in general. At present, Jas is exploring the boundaries and familiarities between the online/offline and the public/private in relation to these developments.
Jas is one of 7 artists that have been selected to participate in BACKLIT’s Graduate Studio Programme.
