What is the role of the arts within social movements?

A conversation between the artists in the exhibition with a behind the scenes insight into the making of their work alongside the challenges, restrictions in arts culture, community, environment and development support.

Join BACKLIT Artists to question how artists can shape the future of art institutions. This discussion will start a line of ongoing enquiry into artist-led movements that will take the form of a public programme as part of Tate Exchange.

Arts Writing Workshop

Saturday 3 November, 3pm – 5pm

Dominique Golden (Associate Artist) will explore The Oulipo School of writing (1960’s French movement) using mathematical restraints to experiment with text and writing.

 

Christmas Fête

Friday 7 December, 6pm – 9pm

Visit the studio artists to purchase unique handmade gifts in time for Christmas. Come along to enjoy drinks, mince pies, a raffle and some festive music and take part in a slime making workshop.

Including stalls from: Amy Blackwell, Anna Manfield, Carole Hawthorne, Craig David Parr, Ding Ding Designs, fourbeatwalk, Hilke Kurzke, Karen Chesney, Lois Gardner Sabet, Neville Smith, Niall Farrelly and Sarah Cunningham. There will also be plenty of information about how to become a volunteer, associate or studio artist at BACKLIT!
