An exhibition reviewing the journey of the organisation over the last decade with new commissions by current studio members alongside objects and resources from a growing archive of material.
Featuring work by Chloe Langlois, Demi Overton, Craig Parr, Martin Rayment, Jenna Round, Lois Sabat and Fourbeat Walk.
Same as it Never Was plays off the well known Talking Heads song ‘Once in Lifetime‘ from 1981 about the unconscious; in which we operate in autopilot and rarely stop to ask ourselves, ‘How did I get here?’.
The 10 year anniversary will provide an opportunity for organisational reflection to uncover creative processes, artistic collaborations, alongside the organisation’s successes, mistakes and misfortunes. This space between an individual and collective memory will subsequently form part of a publication and an artist led archive.
As part of opening night we will have BACKLIT Open Studios for a opportunity to meet our studio members and get involved with the creative community.
