Imarni Boyer-Nugent

Imarni

Imarni Boyer-Nugent is an interdisciplinary artist from North Yorkshire, working with film, performance, print, and textiles. Exploring themes of Fluxus, absence, anti-art, satire and appropriation, Imarni’s practice acts as a response to the wider art world, transforming criticism into pieces and vice versa. Using her body as a medium, the works serve as an outlet for frustration and personal opinion, creating an exaggerated persona of the artist’ as an unreliable narrator to challenge audiences’ perceptions of what art’ is. If art truly is subjective, how do we as consumers and creators differentiate between the truth and the lies? Is there any difference at all?

Imarni is also the founder and editor-in-chief of Femicide Zine, an independent publication grounded in intersectional feminism, alternative arts and culture, and the 90’s Riot Grrrl movement. Femicide Zine showcases art, writing, photography, and interviews with artists and musicians from around the world. For more information, visit @femicidezine on Instagram.
