Facing an ongoing political struggle with Trans Rights in the UK I responded by collaborating with other trans women in my community on a series of portrait paintings. We have been thrust into standing up for our right to exist and in this series of work I discovered vast intersectionality within the transgender community. My work is an extension of advocating for trans rights by portraying the resilient narratives of women living on the fringe of society. In my decision to paint contemporary subjects onto canvas, I am attempting to intertwine trans lives into Art History.
