Lumina Collective
Lumina Collective is a creative group exploring feminism in the arts, based at BACKLIT.
Lumina Collective explore feminism and issues of equality and diversity within the arts, meeting regularly at BACKLIT to catch up and discuss ideas, projects and workshops.
The collective originally started as a branch of the ‘Art + Feminism’ campaign that seeks to improve coverage of gender, feminism, and the arts on Wikipedia by editing the site and creating new listings. Following the campaign, the group regularly meet and has since formed Lumina Collective, continuing the conversation.
We meet monthly to catch up over a cup of tea and talk about all things art and feminism. As a collective, we organise events and projects alongside BACKLIT’s public program and invite participation from the local community. We provide a safe and open space to talk about feminism and the arts and share our ideas. As a collective interested in feminism, we find it crucial to be as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
We especially encourage applications from candidates who have Black, Asian, Mixed or Global Majority heritage and/or are from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
