Tkya Taylor (they/them)

My practice is an attempt to bring people inwards into my mind to witness how the layers of my psyche interact with each other. How I’m a victim to myself and lack autonomy with my feelings. By acting out these internal experiences in our reality. Where there nature is seen more clearly.

With an emphasis on live performance, moving image and costume making. I assume another identity. Through this I’m able to traverse myself. Confronting myself, Exposing flawed ways of thinking and internal power struggles

I use my work to navigate my own black trans identity, exploring class, gender dysphoria and mental struggles. taking inspiration from Jungain psychology and various masquerade. ceremonies throughout the diaspora.
