OUTCOME
In 2022, BACKLIT introduced OUTCOME.
OUTCOME is a creative residency programme that brings students from The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University together for the first time in BACKLIT studios and online. The collaboration provides a platform to research and develop new work around BACKLITS' four pillars: Mental Health, Digital, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and Environment, and how these subjects connect throughout arts and culture.
The programme is an opportunity to exchange skills with students from other courses.
This year's programme (2022) resulted in an exhibition showcasing a series of collaborative projects and works of the 24 students. All working across different disciplines from fine art, year three and masters, art history and visual culture: media, film, and television; this exhibition and research consider themes of migration and identity through photography, painting, print and writing. It explores personal mental health and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as a student with installation, sound, and collage. Environmental awareness, responsibility and digital come into question through film, documentary, and community engagement.
