COLLECT From the Studio
Launching alongside Open Studios, COLLECT From the Studio is a new programme supporting BACKLIT artists to sell their work and develop new routes for sustaining their creative practices. The first edition brings together selected works available to purchase at Open Studios on the 17 July, 17:00 – 19:00 by BACKLIT artists Lily Ford, Franklin Anselm and Chris Preece. You can find COLLECT at the studio entrance on the first floor.
From the Studio: Márcia Porto
From the Studio is BACKLIT’s rotating gallery programme dedicated to its studio artists. Each edition creates an opportunity for an artist to share new work, ongoing experiments and developing ideas with the public.
The latest edition presents work by Márcia Porto, a Brazilian artist, educator and researcher based in Nottingham. Working across painting, mural drawing, performance and installation, Porto creates symbolic spaces shaped by ritual, reflection and embodied experience. Her practice explores gender, identity, pain, environmental collapse and vulnerability. You can find From the Studio at our main gallery entrance on the second floor.
