Seeking Roots
Seeking Roots is a group exhibition showcasing the culminative works of the 2023 OUTCOME cohort in collaboration with Green Hustle Festival. The cohort, comprised of University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University students, has worked collaboratively across photography, sculpture, and film over 6-months to discuss themes of ecology and conservation in a time of heightened anxiety and controversy surrounding the impending effects of the climate crisis.
Focused on environmental responsibility in art, the cohort attended
development workshops and site visits and met local artists, curators,
and collectives. Through this development, they learned about the
realities of working in professional art settings. The programme puts
forward the ideas of coproduction and collaboration as tools for
creative learning and pursuing a professional career in the arts.
This
programme and exhibition have been supported by BACKLIT Gallery,
Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and Green
Hustle Festival.
Programme and exhibition curated by Jazz Swali and Marta Marsicka.
Evening preview: 9 June, 5 – 9 pm
