Ukrainian Social Club
An intergenerational portrait of migration, identity, and resilience.
This autumn, BACKLIT Gallery presents Ukrainian Social Club, a powerful collaboration with the Nottingham Ukrainian Cultural Centre tracing the lives of Nottingham’s Ukrainian community across 75 years.
Through the lens of photographer (and Nottingham Trent graduate) Ciaran Spencer, the exhibition brings together more than 40 portraits alongside personal artefacts and cultural objects donated by Nottingham's Ukrainian community.
Ukrainian Social Club tells a story of displacement and belonging that stretches from the arrivals of 1947 to families rebuilding their lives today.
